About Us
Welcome to The Book Nook, a second-hand book shop in Bridgwater for biblioverts and bookworms.

Here at The Book Nook we not only love books (obviously) but we're also super passionate about reading as a whole experience. We don't just see books as objects or possessions bought to fill space on a shelf: we see them as collectibles, as companions, as portals into other worlds.

In store we're excited to provide our customers with a wide selection of pre-loved books to choose from as well as trinkets and treasures to create your own Book Nook at home.

Whether you're a browser, a collector or a reader (because collecting books and reading books are two separate hobbies) we are confident you'll find something you love at The Book Nook.

About Our Founder

Hi, I'm Georgia Holliday, founder, owner and bookseller here at The Book Nook.

At 28-years-old I was diagnosed with ADHD, struggling hugely with my physical and mental health and feeling a complete lack of purpose. I was deep in autistic burnout and forced quit work. Over the past year I have gently worked my way towards my 'baseline' by engaging with the things I love: reading, writing and being creative.

During this time, solely focusing on feeling better and accommodating myself, books were my best friend; I have always adored books but during this period of my life reading became a coping mechanism.
At one point I was reading a book a day, immersing myself in this joyful special interest. I devoured pages and prose like oxygen as they transported me into alternative realities where I wasn't suffering, where I wasn't lonely and where I wasn't me. I knew I couldn't go back to how things were before (overworking myself doing a mixture of social media management, cleaning and running my Personal Training business). I needed a change.

After a month long trip to New Zealand (to see my Mum and essentially re-evaluate my whole life) I decided to go all in on my love for books. I was already studying for a degree in English Literature & Creative Writing and wanted to make reading and writing my career.

At 29 years old, I opened a second-hand bookshop.
And so the adventure begins; I hope you join me for this exciting next chapter.
